Fr. Patrick (Leo) LaBelle has moved to San Francisco and is now living at AlmaVia of San Francisco, One Thomas More Way, San Francisco, CA 94132. His mobile phone is 415-500-1041; his direct landline (to be connected in the next day or two) is 415-349-4062. (For those of you familiar with San Francisco, his new location is just off Junipero Serra Blvd. and Brotherhood Way, about midway between Parkmerced and the Daly City BART station.)
Although Leo is living in a retirement community, he emphasized that he has not retired. The new location puts him closer to his duties with the Western Dominican Province and to the ongoing physical therapy for his legs.
Sister Constance in Concord? When they learned that Sister Constance would be visiting Carondelet High School in Concord, some classmates wasted no time with catching up with her. She turns 101 next month and continues to show us how to live a full life! Rollie Freitas sent us these photos.

Congratulations to Class President Bill Chavez on his induction into the St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School Hall of Fame. A large contingent of friends, family, and classmates were on hand in Vallejo on October 4 to celebrate the event. For photos and a copy of Bill's Hall of Fame biography, click here.
You might recall that a little over two years ago we reported on a website www.vhs62.com focused on the Vallejo High School Class of 1962. We reported that it was maintained by Harry Diavatis, had some interesting info, and was updated weekly.
Leo LaBelle must subscribe to Harry's weekly updates since he forwarded the August 4 "Monday Update" to your humble webmaster. It's an impressive and newsy publication for "old time Vallejoans." If you are interested in subscribing (free!) you'll find details on the first page. Thanks, Leo, for sharing this!
And what's Leo up to? The tagline on his email labelleop@gmail.com gives us a clue:

Bill Chavez, Dan Leary, Owen Boyle, Leo LaBelle, Suzanne Peregoy (Owen's wife), Linda Belloli Coppo, and George Coppo pose for a photo after memorial services for Owen's mom, Rose Boyle, at St. Dominic's Church in Benicia. For a photo of Rose Boyle and a beautiful summary of her life, click here.
George Coppo advises that he's received an email from his cousin, Owen Boyle, advising that Owen's mother, Rose Boyle, passed away after a long illness. A memorial will be held for her on July 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic's Church, 475 I Street, Benicia. We send our sympathies to Owen and recall that Leo LaBelle was also a cousin of Owen. Small world for the Class of '57!
George and Linda (Belloli) Coppo have a new email address: gcoppo42@gmail.com.

We just received word from Rollie that he and Ellen are looking forward to attending Sister Constance's 100th birthday party in Los Angeles. They are also coming to the Thunder Valley luncheon on October 23. Isn't retirement great?
The Sacramento area contingent of our class has scheduled an informal luncheon to be held at Thunder Valley Casino Resort on Wednesday, October 23. Wednesday is senior day at the casino and the buffet features a reduced price* for us older folks. All classmates and friends are cordially invited to join the Sacramento crowd for this event.
If you'll be attending please advise Bill Chavez at wmchavez@gmail.com. We'll meet at 11:00 a.m. at the Buffet. (If you are coming in from the front parking lot, the buffet is right inside the door. If you are coming from the parking structure at the rear of the casino, you will have a five minute walk to the front.) Thunder Valley Casino Resort is located near Lincoln, California, 30 miles northeast of Sacramento. Address for your GPS is 1200 Athens Avenue, Lincoln, CA.
* A Thunder Club Card is required for discounts; without the card you'll pay $11.49 for the buffet. Easiest way to get a card is to sign up online and pick it up at the Rewards Center when you get there. Or you can sign up at the Customer Service Center when you arrive. (Bill Chavez says he's had his card since the 90's and never received junk mail or spam.) Gary Coronado adds that you'll need to use your card to get a voucher from the kiosk before you get in line. When you jump through these hoops your all-you-can-eat buffet costs $5.75 instead of $11.49. With luck like that you'll want to try the slots!
This photo shows Sister Constance enjoying 102° heat in Palm Desert this past August. She celebrates her 100th birthday next month and will be honored at a birthday party in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 16. You are invited to drop in at 22 Chester Place, Los Angeles any time between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. No gifts, please! If you will be attending please RSVP to 213-477-2744 or jhusung@csjla.org.
If you wish to send Sister Constance a card, mail it to 22 Chester Place, Los Angeles, CA 90007.
Attending a high school football game in Lafayette (his grandson was playing) your intrepid webmaster was fascinated by one of the officials. The line judge, a spry elderly gentleman, sprinted up and down the sideline keeping up with the young football players. The more he watched this fellow and marveled, the more fascinated he became. Then the official began to look familiar. Could it be? Yes, it was Dan Leary demonstrating that you are only as old as you feel.
Joan McDonald advises that Sister Ramona Krisha, O.P., (Fran Krisha) celebrated her 50th jubilee this summer. We are delighted to congratulate Sister Ramona and thank Joan for bringing this to our attention.
Congratulatory cards may be sent to:

Finally back to health, enjoying lunch with his classmates, and awaiting his next assignment, Father Leo LaBelle has a lot to smile about. Classmates celebrated with him at a luncheon in American Canyon on May 13. For some photos from the luncheon, click here.
Patti Byrne Walker patti.walker@q.com has sent us some photos and her biography. For an interesting account of Patti's life since she graduated from Vallejo High School in 1957, click here. Yes, that's her 1957 graduation photo.
News of Martha Bertain prompted this response from Mary Lessard:
Hi Al:
Thank you for the update!!!
We should all be proud of the class of "57" for producing people who have gone on to "live and teach the Gospel Message".
I attended two funerals this past week- a brother and a sister who passed away two hours apart . Both services were at St. Vincent's. I had no problem finding my way to the good "ole Hilltop" but it sure jerked at my heat strings. The memories that flashed by never seemed to stop- I even checked out the "confessional" where the line always seemed to be the longest because the priest was "deaf" if I recall:>)
Thank you again for the update,
Warm regards
Mary Lessard Momsen
Bill Chavez received this email from Pat Byrne patti.walker@q.com who graduated from St. Basil's in 1953:
Hi Bill, went to St. Basils....Hope you remember me.
Is there a classmates listing for SV High? We have one for Vallejo High and it is wonderful. Some class mates were wondering about some of the 1957 grads from SV.
Can you direct me?
Thanks
Pat Byrne (Patti Walker)
Each year the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology conducts the Alemany Awards Celebration at a special mass and dinner. The award, named in memory of Archbishop Joseph Sadoc Alemany, OP, the first bishop of San Francisco, honors men and women who, like Alemany, have distinguished themselves by exemplary service to the Church and community. The event proceeds benefit the education of lay and religious students at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT) in Berkeley.
Among the recipients receiving a 2013 Alemany Award at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco on April 6 was our own Sister Anne (Martha) Bertain. For a biography of Sister Ann, and an opportunity to donate to the DSPT in honor of the award recipients, click here. You can congratulate her by email at annebop@stdominics.org.
Bill Chavez advises that they have a new home phone number: 916-642-8533. Their cell phone numbers are unchanged (Bill: 916-390-9011, Pattie: 916-390-9010).
